Covered or climate-protected pedestrian connections can improve comfort and accessibility for older adults, people with disabilities, transit riders, and other pedestrians. Prioritizing these improvements near medical centers, educational campuses, civic facilities, and major transit destinations can help reduce barriers to walking and improve access to key community destinations year-round.

Sacramento International Airport is constructing a new elevated pedestrian walkway connecting Terminal B and Concourse B. The project includes enclosed pedestrian connections, moving walkways, elevators, escalators, and ADA-accessible facilities that provide an alternative to the airport’s automated people mover system.
